There is an interpretation that Volante Technologies' payment platform has integrated Ripple into FedNow, but this does not mean that the two functionalities operate on the same payment rail. Volante announced on October 13, 2015, that it had established an interface directly connected to Ripple. On February 1, 2021, it participated in the Federal Reserve's FedNow pilot program. FedNow is a payment infrastructure designed to enable U.S. financial institutions to process instant transfers 24/7. Volante's payment page supports FedNow, RTP, Fedwire, CHIPS, ACH, and SWIFT, and also separately mentions Ripple, Visa Direct, and Mastercard Send. This indicates that Volante is a provider connecting multiple payment networks. Although the functionalities of FedNow and Ripple are offered together, this does not lead to the conclusion that XRP is used as a payment asset for FedNow. The Federal Reserve's materials describe FedNow as an infrastructure that helps process customer transfers in real-time, and the list of service providers is regularly updated. Interpretations of Volante's support for FedNow and its integration with Ripple have spread on social media, but fact-checking reports emphasized the need to distinguish between the two functionalities. It has not been confirmed whether the intersection of payment infrastructure and cryptocurrency payments has led to actual usage data.
