Prediction Markets Expand into Financial Infrastructure via Trading Apps

The prediction market centered around Polymarket and Kalshi is expanding into financial infrastructure connected to brokers, wallets, and APIs. Coinbase plans to introduce prediction market features in its main app by December 2025, with initial trading flows provided by Kalshi. In the second quarter of 2026, Coinbase reported a 106% increase in prediction market contracts and revenue compared to the previous quarter, with annualized revenue exceeding $100 million. Interactive Brokers unveiled a feature in May 2026 that allows users to compare and trade contracts from Kalshi, CME Group, and ForecastEx. Binance is set to launch its prediction market API on June 8, 2026, while Robinhood has started routing World Cup event contracts to Rotera. Apex Fintech Solutions announced an API in August 2026 that can connect Kalshi-based prediction markets to financial company platforms. Polymarket provides APIs for market exploration, settlement, and trading, and operates a liquidity rewards program. As the prediction market infrastructure grows, the roles of platforms, brokers, wallets, data providers, and market makers are becoming more distinct. However, regulations and regional restrictions remain key variables. Kalshi raised $1 billion in funding in May 2026, valuing the company at $22 billion.
