NABU and SAP Increase Number of Suspects to 9 in Corruption Case in Poltava
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have increased the number of suspects in the corruption case related to the repair and maintenance of roads in the Poltava region to 9 individuals. The total amount of uncovered illicit benefits exceeds 29.9 million UAH. New suspicions have been directed at the former deputy chairman of the Poltava Regional Council, a deputy, and an official of the Poltava City Council, as well as two representatives of contracting companies. According to the investigation, officials from the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Poltava City Council colluded with deputies and officials to demand kickbacks of 10% from the total amount of contracts for the maintenance and current repair of local roads. The first suspicions were handed down in June 2026. The investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for the deputy in the form of detention with a bail of 33.28 million UAH. After notification of the new suspicion, the total number of individuals involved in the case is now 9. Investigative actions are ongoing.
