Morgan Stanley estimates that the investment in large hyperscaler facilities will reach approximately $800 billion by 2026, analyzing that the overheating of AI investments could be linked to the liquidity in the virtual asset market. While AI facility investments and virtual assets may appear to be separate industries, they are noted to be in the same funding environment. If the AI investment boom cools down, the virtual asset market may face selling pressure, and there are scenarios suggesting that a decoupling could occur where digital assets like Bitcoin diverge from traditional risk asset flows. Morgan Stanley predicts that the facility investment amount will reach $1.2 trillion by 2027, and Bloomberg reports that the facility investment amount of the four major U.S. tech companies could reach up to $725 billion by 2026. AI infrastructure spending is increasing the cash flow and funding burdens of large tech companies, and QCP has analyzed that institutional funds are shifting towards AI infrastructure rather than virtual assets. The IMF has warned that the debt of high-income countries and changes in market structure could heighten the vulnerability of risk assets. The total market capitalization of stablecoins stands at $300.721 billion, with Tether and USD Coin holding significant market shares. If the overheating of AI investments leads to volatility in interest rates and the treasury market, discussions regarding liquidity and repayment structures in the virtual asset market may also increase.
