Kalshi and Polymarket's August Trading Volume Drops to $45.33 Billion, Down 14.5% Month-on-Month
The combined trading volume of Kalshi, Polymarket, and Polymarket US in August fell to $45.33 billion, a month-on-month decrease of 14.5%, marking the first monthly decline since August 2025. Kalshi's trading volume in August was $37.17 billion, down 7.3% from July's $40.1 billion; Polymarket and its US platform had a combined trading volume of $8.16 billion, down 36.7% from July's $12.89 billion. Despite the overall decline, the trading volume in August remains significantly higher than May's $25.66 billion. Previously, it was anticipated that the trading volume in the prediction market would be boosted by the World Cup during the summer, which took place from June 11 to July 19, leading to a noticeable increase in market trading activity. Meanwhile, Kalshi and Polymarket are currently facing further scrutiny from state regulators in the US, with over ten states taking enforcement actions or filing lawsuits against the two platforms, primarily focusing on sports-related contracts.
