White House Official: Some Key Economic Data for October in the U.S. May Be Permanently Lost
BlockBeats News, November 14th: Economists are worried that key information on inflation and unemployment in the United States for October may disappear into a data "black hole," and they are right: White House officials say some key economic data may be permanently lost.
One of President Trump's chief economic advisers, Hassett, said in an interview on Thursday that due to the longest government shutdown in history, the October unemployment rate will not be released, marking the first time in 77 years that this data will not be published.
However, Hassett noted that the estimated data for job creation in October will still be calculated, which is a stark contrast to White House Press Secretary Levitt's statement a day earlier that the jobs report might not be released at all.
It is still unclear whether the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October will be released. Levitt had hinted that the CPI report might not be published, but Hassett did not comment on this. (Jin10)
