Trump's envoy, Jared Kushner, met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday in an attempt to salvage a plan to disarm Hamas and end the war in Gaza. The leaders of the U.S. and Israel have publicly shown rare differences. Netanyahu rejected Trump's proposal last week for a phased disarmament of Hamas. Israel resumed almost daily attacks on Palestinian militants after a brief pause. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that Israel should not carry out these attacks because Hamas has agreed to lay down its arms.
