Trump Plans to Sue BBC Over Edited Speech Content, Seeks Up to $5 Billion in Damages

BlockBeats News, November 15th, according to New York Post, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he plans to sue the BBC because its investigative documentary series Panorama edited his speech on January 6, 2021.

Trump told reporters on Friday evening aboard Air Force One, "We may sue them sometime next week, and the amount will be between 1 billion and 5 billion dollars." He added that he plans to discuss the matter with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the weekend.

A BBC spokesperson said on Thursday, "The BBC's lawyers have responded to a letter received on Sunday from President Trump's legal team. BBC Chairman Samir Shah has also sent a separate personal letter to the White House, expressly apologizing to President Trump on behalf of himself and the BBC for the editing of Trump's speech on January 6, 2021."
