The Check Protocol Emerges as a Key Technology in Zero-Knowledge Proofs

The Check Protocol is once again gaining attention as a core tool in modern zero-knowledge proof technology. As the demand for verifying computational results with short proofs in blockchain increases, the application of interactive proof theory is expanding. On August 12, Andreessen Horowitz Crypto released a discussion featuring Professor Noam Nisan, Tim Roughgarden, and Justin Thaler at First Principles. Professor Nisan is a Gödel Prize winner who participated in research on interactive proofs and computational complexity in the early 1990s. The Check Protocol helps verifiers probabilistically confirm the results presented by the prover without having to re-execute the entire computation. This technique is closely linked to the design of zero-knowledge proofs that compress transactions and state transitions into short proofs on the blockchain. The Check Protocol has evolved from research trends that broaden the scope of interactive proofs using polynomials and randomness, and it is treated as a technology for fast proof generation and efficient verification in modern blockchain infrastructure. Professor Nisan did not anticipate that this theory would develop into a practical technology, but blockchain has increased the need for verification. SNARKs create evidence that the prover has performed the computation, and the verifier confirms it without repeating the process. Thaler Partners mentioned that the Check Protocol could be the optimal tool for practical SNARKs. The Check Protocol is being re-evaluated as an important tool to solve verification computation performance issues for domestic exchanges and dApp users.
