Solana Increases Maximum Transaction Size to 4096 Bytes

The maximum size of a single transaction on the Solana network has been increased from 1232 bytes to 4096 bytes. This change allows for more than a threefold increase in operational space for applications based on smart contracts. Previously, developers had to break complex operations into several stages. The Transaction v1 update enables the execution of multi-level approvals and advanced zero-knowledge proofs in a single transaction. The new limit of 4096 bytes is hardware justified, as it corresponds to the standard page size in modern processors. The changes introduced under the SIMD-0296 and SIMD-0385 improvements are independent of the recent votes regarding network management. The increase in the limit aims to enable Solana to compete with Ethereum, which offers greater flexibility in building applications. Developers will gain space to implement advanced cryptographic proofs and BLS multi-signature authorization schemes, eliminating the need for external infrastructure.
