Ramp: Anthropic Captures 43.8% of AI Paid Share in U.S. Enterprises
The Ramp AI Index, released by Ramp's Chief Economist Ara Kharazian, shows that by September 2026, Anthropic will hold a 43.8% share of AI paid services among U.S. enterprises, an increase of 0.34 percentage points quarter-over-quarter. OpenAI follows with a 39.8% share, up 0.09 percentage points. Overall AI adoption continues to grow, but the pace is slowing, with technology sectors such as information, finance, and professional services leading the way. The median monthly AI spending per employee among the top 1% of enterprises has decreased by 9.7%, from $7,976 to $7,205. The effective price per million tokens has dropped 41% from the peak of $1.15 in March 2026 to $0.68. Cutting-edge models (Opus, Fable, Sol) account for 45% of the token share, while the adoption of open-source models remains limited, representing 6.4% of AI spending enterprises and 3.6% of all enterprises.
