Spartak Moscow offered €25 million for José López following his participation in the 2026 World Cup with the Argentina national team. Palmeiras, the club that owns the player, rejected the offer. The Moscow club proposed an immediate payment of €20 million and an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses. Palmeiras made it clear that they have no intention of selling López and demand at least $40 million to consider it. López joined Palmeiras in 2022, for which Lanús received €9 million. Since then, he has scored 71 goals in 214 matches and has won the Brasileirão twice and the Paulista Tournament three times. Palmeiras will face Cerro Porteño in the Round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores on August 12 and 19.
