Painted Cryptocurrency May Emerge in Russia Due to Sanctions
Painted cryptocurrency could create a separate market for digital assets in Russia if the pressure from sanctions continues to affect transactions with international counterparties. Vladislav Kochetkov, president of the financial group "Finam," noted that anti-Russian restrictions could lead to the emergence of "Painted" cryptocurrency, which passes through addresses or platforms under sanctions. This creates a risk for foreign participants who may perceive such assets as toxic. Kochetkov also predicts that the Russian cryptocurrency market may start trading at a discount to international prices, leading to isolation and the formation of its own pricing rules. The main risks for market participants include difficulties in assessing risks, potential restrictions on operations with foreign platforms, and different pricing. On August 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law legalizing cryptocurrencies, which creates a legal basis for their circulation and protection of rights. However, sanctions may significantly impact the internal structure of the digital asset market.
