Multiple 'Sorry' Ransomware Attacks Discovered in China

The National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center and the National Engineering Laboratory for Computer Virus Prevention and Control have identified multiple incidents of users being attacked by the 'Sorry' ransomware within China. Users' important files have been encrypted, with the filenames changed to the original filename + .sorry extension. The attackers left a ransom note on the users' machines, demanding that users download an encrypted communication tool to contact them. This virus belongs to the newly emerged ransomware family 'Sorry' from 2026, written by attackers using the Go programming language, primarily targeting Linux web servers exposed on the internet.
