Moretti criticizes the Government over the state of the industry
The vice president of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Guillermo Moretti, criticized the Government during Industry Day for the state of the manufacturing industry. He stated, "These people do not know the country, they do not know what a factory is." In radio statements, he referred to the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, saying, "We are being managed by Rivadavia II. We are being managed by a debtor, a trader who does not know what a lathe is." Moretti emphasized that Caputo must know a lot about finance, as "his personal finances increased by 37% in dollars in a year, while Argentina is going into debt." Although the Government supports sectors such as agriculture, mining, and oil, the industrial sector "as a whole is in a very, very difficult situation." He called for urgent measures from the Government to reactivate the industry and protect manufacturing jobs. According to the UIA, in the first half of the year, industrial activity recorded a decline of 2.2%, and in the last twelve months, around 52,000 direct jobs were lost.
