McDonald's India Deletes Controversial Posts Amid Stock Decline

McDonald's India deleted a series of posts from its verified X account on Sunday, claiming an unpaid intern was owed 60000 rupees and promoting a meme coin. The incident coincided with McDonald's Corporation (MCD) closing at 255.69 dollars, its lowest level in a year, although Wall Street has not mirrored this decline. The posts stated that the intern, who managed several Asian social media accounts for McDonald's, had not received payment since December 2025, later revised to May, raising doubts about the claims. The outstanding amount was noted to be above 60000 rupees, approximately 650 dollars, with one post stating that trading losses from meme coins had left the intern in dire conditions. The final messages promoted a token and included crypto wallet addresses before McDonald's India removed the thread, responding with a meme of a dog holding a phone.
