The U.S. and South Korea conducted a joint logistics support exercise involving more than 4,400 personnel and approximately 600 pieces of equipment. The exercise took place from July 13 to 16 in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, and Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, with around 2,400 South Korean troops and 2,000 U.S. troops participating. The focus of the exercise was to check the procedures for transporting personnel and equipment to combat units even in the event of port damage on the Korean Peninsula. A joint amphibious logistics support exercise was also conducted at the Pohang Tool Coast, which was publicly resumed after about nine years since 2017. The three countries, South Korea, the U.S., and Japan, are continuing military cooperation and agreed to deepen multi-domain collaboration to respond to North Korea's nuclear and missile threats during a meeting of the chiefs of staff held in Washington on July 15. The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that the three countries will continue to conduct the annual multi-domain exercise "Freedom Edge." In Japan, the restructuring of the U.S. military command system is underway, with plans to transition to a joint military command by 2025.
