DTCC Advances Real Transactions with Tokenized DTC Custody Securities

The U.S. clearing and settlement infrastructure organization DTCC has tokenized DTC custody securities for actual trading. On July 15, DTC custody securities were converted into token form and utilized in real transactions, marking the first step in processing tokenized trades within the existing financial market infrastructure. More than 30 participants, including JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and Vanguard, were involved, with approximately 40 companies participating according to DTCC's live page. The types of transactions included collateral provision, securities lending, and delivery versus payment (DVP) for U.S. Treasury securities. The asset conversion took place on LFDT's Besu private network and the Canton public network, operating the same tokenization structure across different blockchains. DTCC defined tokenized assets as 'digital twins' of existing physical assets, maintaining the same rights and investor protections as traditional assets. This transaction was initiated following the SEC's no-action letter received in December 2025, with assets held by DTC exceeding $114 trillion. DTCC plans to launch its 'DTCC Tokenization Service' in October 2026.
