Argentine corporate debt issuances fall to 937 million dollars in August
The hard dollar debt placements by Argentine companies and provinces decreased to 937 million dollars in August, less than half the volume of July. Mariano Ortiz Villafañe, chief economist at Aldazabal y Cía., indicated that the lower activity is due to a more complex financial scenario, marked by rising interest rates in the United States and an increase in the Argentine sovereign spread. In August, there were no issuances from provinces in the external market, with financing concentrated in Negotiable Obligations issued under Argentine legislation. Companies such as AES Argentina Generación, YPF, and Banco Supervielle made issuances in dollars, primarily in the local market, with rates between 3.50% and 6.50%. MSU Green Energy was the only one that placed debt under New York Law, closing at a rate of 9.95% on August 6. Despite the decline in August, the accumulated volume in 2026 remains significant, averaging 1.67 billion dollars monthly in hard dollar debt placements.
